English Services Emblem
Translated by Angel Pu
Have you ever encountered the following situations? You want to enjoy a nice
meal out, but the waiter doesn't understand what you want. Or it frequently
takes a lot of time to dine in the restaurant just to communicate with the staffs.
The Taichung City Government has a solution that should make things easier.
In order to make life more convenient for Taichung city's foreign residents and visitors, local businesses have been working together with the city government to improve English-communication skills and provide better service since 2009. Until today, there have been a total of 380 businesses certificated. This year, the results of this program in central Taiwan have been outstanding. A total of 93 businesses have qualified for the English Services Emblem. Of these, 13 received the gold emblem. This means that the number of gold emblem holders in Taichung city is the highest in the nation.
The certified businesses will get an English Service Emblem sign that allow the foreigners to identify. The emblems include Gold Certification and Silver Certification. Businesses which receive silver emblems provide complete English menu, while the other businesses provides complete and innovative bilingual service so that foreigners can have an enjoyable dining experience.
