VISITOR RATINGS & REVIEWS
Brought to you all the way from Chung Ching City in Szechuan province,
18-Step Spicy Hotpot offers three different kinds of hotpot (soup
base) for NT$100. The restaurant has given much thought in catering
to the taste buds of those who do not like spicy flavors. The star
of the show is undoubtedly the large intestines, marinated in a
special sauce so that the texture is "al dente" and very
pleasing with every bite. During the restaurant's "soft opening"
period, a set meal for two costs NT$300 per person. The set consists
of about 10 different dishes like large intestines, meatballs of
several varieties, octopus, shrimps and vegetables. In January,
the restaurant will be launching its special Jumbo Lobster Meal
that promises to delight. Another thing that's worth mentioning
is the "lau ying" ("eagle") tea that, according
to Chinese tradition, is a must with the spicy hotpot. The spicy
chicken, a house special, goes for NT$80 and is said to be an authentic
Chung Ching special. Live performances are sometimes offered by
the restaurant and song requests from diners are welcomed. -- By
