The name of this Japanese house, "Umai", is similar in meaning to the word "yummy", and it's no mistake. Here, customers can order up grilled meat and seafood while relaxing with a cold beverage. Unlike other sake houses in Taichung, Umai has mid-range pricing that almost everyone can afford; they also offer great quality, made-to-order meats. Currently, their business lunch sets are 15% off and dinner is 10% off. The menu is changed every three months and you can see a variety of hot pot dishes in the colder months. --By Dawn Yang, translated by Ann Lee

A. For a nice meal, try the naturally sweet Angus Beef (NT$280) or the tender Superior Fillet (NT$220). Grilled and dipped in special sauce, The Grilled Pork dish (NT$140) is a popular menu item.

B. The refreshing Romaine Lettuce Salad (NT$90) and Japanese Salad are light and popular. Meals come with a cup of daily-made chicken soup. Don't forget to sprinkle some chopped green onions in for a better taste. The steamed rice is imported from Japan, and the range of cocktails and drinks is also unbeatable.
