This new HuaMei Street restaurant has a white exterior and beautiful flowering plants lining its entrance. Walking inside, one might think they had stepped into a local bar, thanks to a decor with bright yellow lighting and big, comfy red sofas that exude extreme modernity. Although alcoholic beverages are on offer here, you'll also find more than 50 dishes on the menu. The selection includes hot stir-fries, grilled foods, and sauteed dishes, all going well with a drink or two. While you sit down and take in the unique ambiance, you can sample the alcohol selection, including a range of German-style beers like Weissbier, Gold Pils Beer and Dunkel, all produced in a local brewery. The texture and taste of these beers closely resemble authentic German beers and are worth trying. Currently, the restaurant is also selling an array of chef's special set meals. --By Catherine Liu, translated by Ann Lee

A. Meal for Two (NT$688) also comes with a Heineken (600 cc), three bottles of regular or draft beer (1500ml), and two main-course dishes.

B. With its fashionable, avant-garde exterior, Laku Restaurant/Bar is located in a simple white building with big windows. Regardless of whether it's considered more of a restaurant or lounge bar, it is almost guaranteed to offer relaxing night with friends over great food and quality drinks.
