Hung's Mansion hotel has transformed its first-floor J'adore lounge bar into a full, 70-seat restaurant offering a good selection of Eastern and Western a la carte and set-meal entrees. According to management, the decision to expand services was made because guests enjoyed J'adore's atmosphere so much that they wanted to also eat there. It's hard to beat the very classy ambiance which is heightened at night by candle-lit tables. The head chef, with experience at other local high-end hotel kitchens, offers a number of tasty a la carte items, including sandwiches, burgers, pastas and Asian fare like the Classic Beef Noodles (NT$220), Hangzhou Fried Rice (NT$220) and Japanese Matsuzakaya Pork Rice (NT$260). There are also meal sets that come with bread, salad and soup selections, a risotto or pasta and a choice from several main courses, from Italian Grilled Garlic Chicken (NT$380) to German Crispy Pork Knuckle cooked in Berlin-style Rye Beer (NT$580) and Premium Filet Mignon with Green Peppers and Cream Sauce (NT$780). There are also regular dining specials and, from 1 to 5 p.m., an afternoon tea time offer that includes Movenpick ice cream and a drink choice. J'adore's bar remains and there is a 7-9 p.m. happy hour with a buy-two-get-one-free deal on Corona and draft Taiwan beers. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Uvia Chang
