Formerly known as the already-popular Cielo Cafe, Pasta Buena has been renamed to match its smaller sister establishment, Pizza Buena. While this 70-80 seat restaurant continues to offer the wide range of pasta, pizza/calzone and rice entrees that regulars love, it is also in the process of adding more Spanish and Latin American fare to the menu. Three dozen pasta (spaghetti or penne) varieties come with olive-oil, tomato, cream/pink, pesto and Thai-style sauces, with favorite Cielo holdovers including the NT$220 Thai Red Curry Chicken (or Vegetarian), and Clams with Cream/Pink Sauce. There are also a dozen nine-inch pizza and calzone types (NT$160-290), soups, salads, eight kinds of French bread, NT$90 beers, coffees, teas, milk shakes and desserts. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Naomi Lai
A. Fideua (NT$360 for 2 diners, NT$660 for 4) is a delicious traditional Spanish dish resembling Paella (also available) but using thin pasta noodles instead of rice.
B. Popular with diners, Pasta Buena's eight types of Lasagna (NT$190-270) include Mustard with Vegetables, Smoked Salmon, and the most-popular Bolognaise (tomato).
C. Pasta Buena's transition from the former Cielo Cafe includes an attractive, classier decor featuring striped brown wallpaper and illlumination from black hanging lamps on the first and second floor dining areas.
