This restaurant, featuring old-style construction with red bricks and cement, is owned by Mr. Wang, a faithful Christian who named his place after a biblical reference ("the cornerstone") for Jesus Christ. Practicing his faith to the fullest, Wang stops at nothing to offer his diners the best vegetables and meat. In order to reduce health risks from the smoke and tar of regular coal-based stoves, Cap Stone instead cooks meat with infrared stoves, which are clean, smokeless, evenly heated and do not emit radiation, providing customers with a comfortable environment for enjoying barbeque and drinking beer. There are also private rooms suitable for families and other groups. The various barbeque ingredients are prepared by Chef Hsu, who skillfully created their unique sauces and various barbeque favorites, such as Beef on a Stick (NT$45), and Bacon and Tomato (NT$40). There are also pineapples, asparagus and winter mushrooms wrapped with bacon. Reasonable prices for barbeque sticks range from NT$20 to NT$100. --By Uvia Chang, translated by Naomi Lai

A. Available Monday to Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. the Meal Set Special is only NT$260 (only 10 sets available) and includes items like Angus beef, salmon, Japanese salad, barbequed rice balls, side courses, barbeque on a stick, soup and fruit. The menu changes often.

B. Two other tasty items are the roasted fresh Pacific Saury (NT$50) and Prawn Gratin (NT$120), made with a fresh prawn and prawn eggs topped with a special sauce. You can feel every prawn egg popping in your mouth as you savor this dish.

Cap Stone (Cornerstone) C. At the restaurant's red-brick counter, you can pick out the various barbeque items you want, including beef, pork, lamb, seafood or chicken on a stick.
