Brunch is becoming a fashionable dining trend in Taichung with more and more Western brunch restaurants springing up all over. Sweet Cabin, next to Wan Shou Park, is a simple, fresh representation of these establishments with its white color theme, original wood furniture and greenery. Here they serve various reasonably-priced dishes with beverages (NT$35-50), such as their smoothly flavored coffees and fresh-made vegetable-fruit juices. --By Vincent Huang, translated by Naomi Lai

A. The Shell Pastry Meal Set (NT$90) is a light but flavorful wrap, with a crispy sesame pastry filled with vegetables such as lettuce, tomatoes and corn, plus fruit. You can also add pork or chicken to this wrap, and the meal set comes with scrambled eggs, steamed sweet potato and a beverage of your choice.

B. The focus of the American Beef Burger (NT$120) is the bun. No white flour is used in making of this bread. Rather, Sweet Cabin uses a type of wheat flour normally used for French bread to create a soft but chewy texture. The burger is seasoned with a special sauce, made of exotic herbs, potatoes, carrots, fruit and Chinese herbs by the owner's wife. This unique burger comes with crispy fries and a beverage.
