Although more than 10 Gary Bee'69 chain restaurants have been opened in southern Taiwan, central Taiwan had to wait until now to finally get one. Based on its main philosophy of giving diners more than they pay for, the restaurant has long pleased its mostly-younger customers with large-portioned American-style meals that include giant hamburgers. The ingredients, imported from America, help provide authentic American flavors, helping customers feel as if they were back in the U.S.A. --By Natasha Lee, translated by Naomi Lai
A. When first entering Gary Bee'69, one is immediately dazzled with the restaurant's uniformly bright orange walls and strong retro American atmosphere. The owner's proud collection of car license plates from each American state are also on display. You can count them if you wish; they're all there.
B. Signature order at Gary Bee'69, the Giant Beef Hamburger (NT$278) is a must-try for younger customers. The over-20-centimeter-diameter buns contain three mouth-watering patties with fresh lettuce and a tomato slice, making it delicious and filling. You definitely get your money's worth with a burger that's bigger than your face. It also comes with imported Canadian french fries and a drink of your choice (unlimited refills). With all this, it's no wonder that this place is a big student hangout.
