Diners wanting authentic all-American-style burgers and milkshakes should head to this new appropriately-named place, located in the heart of the Canal District. After 15-plus years as a manager at T.G.I. Friday's, Allen Wang joined three friends in opening this relaxing-looking, 40-seat place. A Taiwanese-American consultant with years of U.S. restaurant experience also helped ensure the flavors were just right. The "7 'Fen' So" is a play on Chinese burger/steak cooking times; Allen's daily hand-made burger patties are not overcooked, hence the name. Daily weekday burger/sandwich lunch specials (NT$170-240) come with fries and any NT$60 menu drink, including sodas, juices and American coffee. A. The Double-Cheese Burger (NT$220 with fries) leads the burger/sandwich list and has a 200-gram patty topped with American cheese and other fixings. A wide variety of NT$130 milkshakes, including the pictured Banana Chocolate-Chip, are made with an imported shake mixer (versus the usual blender) the all-American way--using only ice cream and milk--for a perfect thick, rich creaminess. Order one and you get all 500 ccs in the metal mixing cup to pour into your glass--another American tradition.
B. The Philly Cheese Steak (NT$240) shouldn't be missed and includes a soft long bun, packed with shredded beef (or pork) and fried green peppers and onions, all topped with melted American cheese mixed with jalapeno peppers.
