This little sandwich restaurant stands out with its use of the term "hoagie"--a Philadelphia-coined word for submarine-style sandwiches. At T.D. Angel, these tasty seven-inch creations come in eight varieties, from the NT$130 Ham to two of the shop's biggest favorites--the Sirloin Steak and Saint-Pierre (both NT$250). The friendly management, which once ran a cheese curry rice stand, recently moved to the fourth floor of Le Free mall (also home to FM Bar & Grill, and Starbucks) to open a healthier day-time brunch place. The menu also includes four NT$180 spaghetti options (available after 10:30 a.m.), such as Smoked Salmon with Cream Sauce, prepared with little/no oil to make them more healthy. Iced and hot lattes, cappuccinos and milk beverages come in many flavors, and there are teas and juices. The shop also sells cute, colorful Hawaiian necklaces and earrings. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Angel Pu
A. All sandwiches here, like the pictured Smoked Chicken (NT$140) hoagie, come with a cup of daily soup, a small side salad and a choice of drinks.
B. If you're not feeling like having a hoagie, try one of the bagel and croissant sandwiches, like this Smoked Salmon Bagel (NT$160), overflowing with fresh veggies.
C. T.D. Angel's light-green painted interior exudes creates a relaxed ambiance. Even more relaxing is a spacious outside fourth-floor balcony area with great views of WenXin Road and the surrounding 7th Redevelopment Zone. The restaurant is able to cater out or host special BBQ/buffet parties for up to 300 people in this and a connected third-floor balcony area.
