Wang Jia-ping, owner of Taichung's K2 and J-Ping restaurants, is famed for his passion for Italian cuisine. Diners who share his love for pasta and pizza will definitely get to experience this even more with the great dining selection at this all-new K2 location. The restaurant offers dozens of authentic-tasting pasta entrees (NT$170-270) which can be upgraded to set meals for an extra NT$100. The price for the AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana) certified Neapolitan pizza runs between NT$250 and NT$450. --By Niang Chen, translated by Angel Pu
A. The restaurant's interior design has a minimalist-style atmosphere. Here, the chef pours his heart into producing good pasta because, as the owner notes, some diners really care about this.
B. The American Prime Rib-Eye Steak Roasted in Pizza Oven (NT$1,780) is first roasted at low temperature for three minutes before being transferred to a 450-degree Celsius pizza oven. The high temperature seals in the juices and gives the steak's outside a slightly-golden color. To enjoy this steak to its fullest, it is recommended that diners only add a bit of sea salt and pepper.
C. The crust of the authentic Neapolitan-style Marinara Pizza (NT$250) is deliciously chewy and full of wholesome flour flavors. Although the ingredients are simple (tomatoes, sliced garlic, oregano, ground cheese), it is still unforgettably tasty.
