Mr. Lin Qiyao has finally fulfilled a dream of opening his own grill in a spot next to Dongxin Park where there's great parking. It's not his goal to make Nanatsunoumi a fancy, expensive restaurant but, rather, to offer a quiet, comfortable environment with quality, reasonably-priced food. Tables and chairs are arranged in a circle in the semi-open space that allows diners to enjoy nice breezes. The shop serves all kinds of grilled dishes, rice balls, sashimi, salads, fried dishes, soups and hot pots, with a price range of NT$60 to NT$380. The wide beer selection is NT$60 to NT$100. --By Niang Chen, translated by Angel Pu
A. Under night skies, this cozy, blue grill serves beer and many tasty dishes, making it a perfect place to meet friends for a drink and enjoy a beautiful evening.
B. Salted Grilled Oyster Mushrooms (NT$60)--crunchy outside and juicy and tender inside--are grilled over medium heat and finished up with sprinkled sesame salt. Teriyaki Grilled Chicken (NT$80/stick) comes in generous portions and is seasoned with secret-recipe teriyaki sauce that accentuates the chicken's original, good flavors.
C. Kabayaki Roasted Eel with Rice (NT$200) takes a lot of time to make, as the eel needs to be filleted, deboned and marinated to get its rich, tender texture. An order includes famed Xiluo white rice, pickled cucumber and scallop side dishes, and soup. Japanese Vegetable Salad (NT$100) consists of abundant fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce, topped with an appetizing Japanese sesame-oil dressing.
