This American-style eatery offers burgers, grilled ribs, spaghetti and small thin-crust pizzas. Asked why he opened his place, owner Mr. Hsu responded, "I'm a positive and outgoing person, so I thought maybe an American-style restaurant suited me better." --By Niang Chen, translated by Angel Pu

A. NT$150 upgrades the Pepper Jack Cheese Burger (NT$280) to a set meal, including a salad, soup, stir-fried potato chunks, and drink. The flavorful, juicy and firm handmade patty features seven kinds of cheese with a barbecue sauce and jalapenos.

B. The authentic Sweden Meat Balls (NT$120) has a refreshing, straightforward flavor that comes from the use of spices and herbs. Made with plain flour, corn flour, beer and fennel, the batter for the Classic Crispy Eggplant (NT$99) and Onion Rings (NT$79) complements all the ingredients. These two items taste especially good with Chicken Coop's specially-made malt vinegar and garlic mayonnaise.

Chicken CoopC. This spacious restaurant is a comfortable hang-out that already gained a loyal following.
