Aussie Kris Belling has been running his gourmet butchery business in central Taiwan for about five years, with over eight years in his home country before that. This new eatery--about a block north of Taichung Port Road--is a slightly new direction, as he now offers simple sit-down or take-out dining and drinks. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Erica Lin
Belling's straightforward, filling sandwiches include the Ham Sandwich (NT$250 full, NT$150 half) pictured with his homemade ham, cheese, tomatoes, jalapenos, lettuce, pickles and Dijon mustard, wrapped in a soft French bread. Taiwan Beer on tap, coffee and soft drinks are also sold.
This relaxing place has inside and outside tables and an L-shaped wooden bar.
Kris' main business remains his meat products, like this big smoked ham. Dozens of products sold to restaurants and individuals include ham, smoked bacon, black pudding and just about any requested sausage, from chorizo and Aussie beef sausages to his popular Lincolnshire pork sausages.
