As its name indicates, Fresco is a multi-faceted destination--not only a great nightspot with indoor/outdoor lounge-style seating, full bar, DJs and live music, but also a restaurant with a creative menu of mostly-Western entrees (NT$250-400), from omelettes to pasta. A variety of beers, including Heineken (NT$200, buy-3-get-1-free), cocktails and other spirits are sold. Special regular events (usually 10 p.m.-2 a.m.) include Tuesday Jazz Nights with live music, and DJs on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Angela Cheng

A. Fresco's fashionable, upscale ambiance includes a sizable outdoor lounge area, perfect for evening relaxation or afternoon dining.

B. The American Platter (NT$1,000) is a hearty group order that includes thick shrimp cakes, teriyaki pork, German pig's feet, spicy buffalo wings, sauerkraut and dipping sauces. Another special, and uniquely-tasty, offering is the Fried Soft Shell Crab Burger (NT$350), topped with a tartar sauce.

C. A variety of seating, from sofa areas to a long bar, are situated around a small DJ/dance area.
