Arctic offers a change from the usual, thick, oily spicy "mala" hotpot with a Trademark Tea Spicy Broth that is a lighter, clearer, non-oily mix of 5-6 types of tea leaves, peppers and other flavorings. Altogether, there are six broth choices (two are vegetarian) and four standard sets (including one vegetable). Six broth-spiciness levels range from completely non-spicy to super-spicy and "unlimited spicy" (as much as you can take), with the staff able to adjust these levels even after serving. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by S. Ying

A. The very filling NT$498 set comes with a cornucopia of quality seafood, including clams, crab leg, fish, squid and shrimp, plus veggies, Tea Leaf Stewed Egg, and dessert.

B. Scaled-down versions of Arctic's meals include the NT$148 Business Lunch (11 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays) and NT$198 Late-Night Meal (available from 9:30 p.m.).

C. The 84-seat interior includes a cozy-feeling first floor and the pictured, very spacious second floor, ideal for large gatherings.
