What was formerly Win Western Restaurant has been transformed into one of the city's swankiest nightspots, thanks to a big, beautiful new bar. The information-packed, well-organized menu highlights the impressive offerings, including various specialty cocktails (NT$300-350), non-alcoholic "mock cocktails" (NT$200), shots, 46 whiskeys (including seven bourbons), plenty of wines, beers, and other high-end spirits. Sharing the same premises, the equally-classy steakhouse continues to offer excellent US Prime dry-aged steaks and other mains. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by S. Ying
A. Perfect for warm evenings, the outdoor garden seating area, equipped with its own bar, provides amazing views of the city skyline.
B. Head bartender Sliver Lu poses with three special cocktails (left to right)--the Old Fashioned, made with Woodford Reserve bourbon; the strikingly-presented Moscow Mule, containing a lemon-infused Stolichnaya vodka and Stella Artois draft beer; and the refreshing, tri-colored Spumoni, containing Campari and fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice.
C. Rare's bar complements the very high ceilings and striking decor of the steakhouse around it.
