Delicatesses Desmarais

0926-988-497
82, GuoQiang St, North Dist
Hours: Mon-Fri 5-9 pm

The Zhongke branch of this restaurant chain gives off a strong zen-like vibe and is run by young, talented Chef Ah-Qing, whose Taiwanese/Cantonese cooking experience includes stints as a Presidential Office and Ministry of National Defense main banquet chef, and Fubon Group private chef. Nevertheless, prices here are reasonable. The menu includes myriad pork, beef, chicken, seafood, stir-fried vegetable and other dishes, plus some mouth-watering delicacies incorporating Southeast Asian flavors. Besides the recommended Dongpo Pork (NT$220), authentic Malaysian entree Pork Fillet with Rendang Sauce (NT$160) is an ideal choice. Also don't miss the succulent Grilled Crispy Chicken (half chicken NT$300), broiled with Chinese herbs for a day before being grilled and drizzled with broth. Seafood Taro Vermicelli Soup (NT$300) is prepared with fresh local ingredients like Puli vermicelli, Dajia taro and seafood, and enjoyable with scallions and chives. Other options include two five-course set meals (from NT$580), and filling lunch specials (from NT$120) that include three side dishes, a main course, rice, soup, and beverage. --By Uvia Chang, translated by Anna Yang
