Mom'n Pop's reopening marks the rebirth of one of the best restaurants in eastern Taichung. Though the Dakeng Scenic Area might be a bit of a trip, this eatery is certainly worth the time. Both the restaurant and its menu have been revamped and updated, with pleasant, comfortable and welcoming decor and delicious and filling food. The menu still offers old favorites like The Andrew (NT$160 sandwich, NT$230 for meal set), and classics like the Bacon Cheeseburger (NT$155, NT$205 for meal set), but they've also added a weekend brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with such offerings as the Full English Breakfast (NT$250; add NT$30 for drink) with homemade sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, home fries, fried tomato, fried mushrooms and baked beans. Many events are also held here, such as pub quizzes and game nights for those who would like to spend a fun evening out. --By Daniel White, translated by Anna Yang
