This impressive Art Museum Parkway restaurant is run by Chef Tsai. After getting an MBA from University of Southern California, he studied at Le Cordon Bleu where he met his wife, who was studying to be a pastry chef. Together, they have opened this restaurant in Taichung. Previously working at Michelin-starred Japanese Restaurant Ryu Gin, which prepares exquisite Japanese, western and molecular gastronomy using local ingredients, Chef Tsai now mainly serves burgers and rice dishes. This includes Pan Seared Seasonal Fish, featuring potatoes, pumpkins, beetroot and sea bass marinated with passion fruit pulp, and the flavorful Crispy Pork Belly with Soft-Boiled Eggs in Beer Soy Sauce (NT$360; add NT$25 for bowl of rice). Appetizers include Thick Tamagoyaki (NT$110) prepared with eggs, and Sauteed Shrimp & Fried Polenta (NT$260), made with Italian corn flour, white shrimp, wine and butter. Other options include salads, seafood, pumpkin soup, and fresh-flavored Beer and Shrimp French Fries (NT$200) featuring shrimp coiled with beer-infused dough, plus pastries like Lemon Tarts and Spanish Churros. --By Uvia Chang, translated by Anna Yang
