Cafe Joint 7 'Fen' So

(04) 2472-9939
207-1, NanTun Rd, Sec 2, Nantun Dist
Hours: 8:30 am-10 pm (last order 9 pm)

Although it's the fifth branch of the local Burger Joint chain, this new, relaxing 70-seat restaurant (next to Taichung Mosque) has a slightly-revised name to reflect a new addition--a glassed-off coffee-roasting area. Here, an internationally-certified expert mans a big 22-kilogram capacity machine to roast Direct Trade single-origin beans from all over the world. The smooth coffees made from these freshly-roasted beans can now be enjoyed in all Burger Joint branches or purchased by the bag (NT$320/pound). Cafe Joint shares about 80% of Burger Joint's regular menu to offer 14 burgers (NT$200-390), steaks, all-day brunch choices (minus omelets and burritos), salads, hot dogs, milkshakes and other western items. However, it also has several unique items--six new panini sandwiches (NT$190-240), including the spicier Chili Macaroni Panini and Chicken, Sausage and Bacon Panini, plus two Cajun-inspired appetizers like Fresh Portobello Mushrooms and Mixed Mushrooms seasoned/sauteed with Cajun sauce. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Carol Dong
