Located on DaGuan Road near Pig Pen, Lobby and Lion King, Zoo is a nightclub with a unique look and atmosphere. Beside a fancy exterior, the interior of Zoo is separated into two main areas. Walking in the front door, guests end up outside again--in a large, outdoor seating area. This 80-ping patio features multiple deck levels, patio furniture, a bar and plants galore. Through the outdoor area, visitors can access the bathrooms and the second area--a dance floor. The 120-ping, mood-lit dance area is spacious and accommodating, and a solid counter runs along the walls, a convenient place to put your drink or bag while dancing. Comfortable couches in the back provide a nice retreat from shakin' it, with mostly funk and house music and the occasional live band or DJ.
Zoo serves a variety of cocktails (NT$160-300), Red Bull (NT$150-200), beer (NT$120-160), and juice. Their signature drink is the Mojito (NT$250), which is made with fresh mint leaves plucked straight from their garden. With a splash of lime and a lot of rum, it's quite a strong little drink. The Maitai (NT$250), another popular choice, is made with three kinds of lime liquor.
Although there is no minimum charge inside, the admission runs from NT$250 to NT$350, depending on night's entertainment. Every so often, they will have all-you-can-drink deals. You can also call in advance for group gatherings and parties. Unlike some other places in town, Zoo is dedicated to providing a safe and clean environment for night life lovers, and it truly is a lovely place to stay into the wee hours of the morning.
