Words by Taichung City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau
Translated by Angel Pu
The Taichung City Cultural Affairs Bureau's "Arts & Culture Bus", launched last year, has become so popular that the bureau has decided to add new schedules and routes that include more interesting arts and culture attractions. Moreover, the Arts and Culture Bus will be available on Saturdays all year round. In 2012, there are eight routes, with 45 buses per day departing from the city's four cultural centers.
Most of the attractions are local cultural centers, arts shops, historical buildings, artists' studios, museums, handicraft shops, factories, and community-building associations. Every tour is guided and includes an art do-it-yourself activity and performance. To date, confirmed attractions and activities include hand-dyeing at Aixiang community, the Bailingzhen Historical Park, stone sculpting at Chen Song Stone Sculpture Studio, the Zhang Lian-chang Saxophone Museum, Taian Railway Station, The Home of the Craftsmen Cultural Park in Dajia district, drum-playing with the Jiu Tian Theatrical Troupe, handicraft-making at the Mutou-Wood Wood Crafts Studio, and ceramic-making at Daya district's Zhao Family Kiln Craft Shop.
The first group will be open for registration from January, 2012. Please visit the Cultural Affairs Bureau website at (http://www.culture.taichung.gov.tw/home.asp) for the latest information.
