This year's Taichung Arts Festival features the theme "Crossover" and will be divided into eight different performances. From Oct 14, myriads of specially designed flower installations will be presented in various city's corner. There will also be flower parades taking place in every Taichung district, and all are welcomed to join these celebration of the floral beauty.
An opening concert will be performed by a classical crossover artist/singer, Hayley Westenra and the Japanese Enra dancing group, which has previously performed at Festival de Cannes. Together, these two acts will present a fascinating dance show that combining strongly contrasting images and art. The "Fivesax" ensemble of sax players from various countries will also present a comedic, creative musical show. In addition, there will be many other memorable musical events, a series of literacy exhibition, and concerts at several city landmarks, with Li Tai-hsian's musical concert at Fulfillment Amphitheatre on Nov 13, which will be offering audience members an unforgettable experience.
The arts festival includes a children's show performed by Open Theater Group, plus other musical performing groups between October and December at various districts' public libraries. Like it did last year, Taichung City Dadun Cultural Center will host stage shows, highlighting over 40 performers.
Altogether, there will be more than 70 art spotlight shows combining culture and creativity, all part of the entertaining, high-quality cultural experiences that this year's Taichung Arts Festival is offering to all audience members, including families with children.
The closing ceremony will feature Paper Windmill Theatre performing "Don Quixote" at National Taichung Theater, bringing the entire event to a memorable end. Between Oct. 14 and Dec. 31, all are welcomed to participate in the Taichung Arts Festival as it spreads and artistic ambiance across the city. More festival information is available at www.tcaf.tw.
