Children and grown-up fans of RC (remote-controlled) toys and models will be delighted by the opening of the island's one and only warehouse store dedicated to their hobby. Thunder Tiger Corp., among the world's leading RC manufacturers, has turned an entire floor of a factory building at its Taichung headquarters into an attractive, 150-ping store stocking over 10,000 different products. Shoppers can choose from dozens of electric and nitro gas-powered RC airplanes, helicopters, cars, trucks, sailboats and even submarines, ranging from palm-sized cars to vehicles capable of over 100 kph and drift racing, as well as massive airplanes. Long-term hobbyists and first-timers alike can check out a wide spectrum of options, from ready-to-fly/drive models like the revolutionary new Innovator series of RC helicopters, to very advanced aircraft that may take weeks to build and prepare. The new store is in the Taichung Industrial Park, but is relatively quick and easy to reach: Heading west towards Tunghai University on TaichungGang Road, turn left onto Industrial Park 1st Road and continue up into the park before turning right onto Industrial Park 6th Road. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Ann Lee

A. In addition to RC models, the Skyhobby Warehouse Store stocks thousands of related engine and body parts, electronics, tools and other equipment needed by the do-in-yourself (DIY) hobbyist.

B. Skyhobby managers plan to hold regular fun weekend events that are open to the public, including RC demonstrations, races and training workshops. In addition to an outdoor events area, there is an almost equally-large indoor racing track and training center/workshop.
