Owners Vince and Emily were inspired by their Australian working-holidays to open this shop and bunch/afternoon tea place two years ago. "We decided to name our restaurant 'Funny Seals' because both our actions sometimes look like a seal and our personalities are both humorous," explains Vince. He adds that their meals use natural ingredients with no added preservatives and are chemical-free. They treat customers like family members, whether they're preparing main dishes, desserts or drinks. "Each ingredient we use is closely examined. Even our vegetables are bought from an organic farm," he notes. For example, fine 11-year-old tea oolong leaves are used in making a simple oolong latte. Funny Seals also sells a variety of imported kitchen ware and utensils, such as an elephant-like dish (NT$60), a Kikker squirrel whisk (NT$500) and Duka spoon (NT$50), helping inspired customers to also go home and cook.
