On
New Year's Eve, I was looking for parking in a lane near JingMing
(ChingMing) 1st Street. There was a big party there that night,
so parking wasn't easy to find. During my search, I came across
a small teahouse with soft candelight filtering through the windows,
illuminating the garden outside. Since I was in a hurry, I didn't
find out its name. Not long after, I was in a coffee shop and the
owner of that shop told me about an interesting teahouse near JingCheng
Road. I went to check it out and realized that this was the teahouse
I had seen before. The owner, Ah Jiao, has personalized this teahouse
with personal items, such as his grandmother¡¦s phonograph
and antique Chinese armchairs and cabinets. Although Chun Fei Hsiao
Hsiao is primarily considered a teahouse and has Chinese decor,
it does serve coffee made from Italian Lavazza beans. Coffee choices
include lattes (NT$140) and cappuccinos (NT$130). The drink menu
also includes homemade "healthy vinegars" (NT$170) including
ostmanthus and lavender flavors. There are also specialty milk teas
(NT$140), including the very popular apple milk tea.
