Central Taiwan's Puli is known for its picturesque mountain sceneries. On a whim, a good friend and I decided to head up to the mountains near the town. The beautiful landscape in front of our eyes washed off our fatigue. We came to a European-style building whose red rooftop and white tiled walls, located next to a fiery red suspension bridge, brought us to a stop. It was late in the afternoon with a nice breeze, so we chose to sit outside and ordered an ice coffee (NT$80) and a pot of floral tea (NT$150). We sat under the tree in the breeze to enjoy the bridge and the distant mountains while sipping the rich, aromatic iced coffee. It was relaxation without frills and embellishment. The European architecture may seem out of place against the surroundings, but it does offer visitors a nice place to stop and enjoy the verdant scenery. It is well worth the trip up here during the weekends.
