Hey cat lovers! Neko Cafe is not only great for light meals; it's also a place where people who love cats can mingle and have fun. And it is certainly cat-friendly--feline friends wander and sleep all over the restaurant and Blackie (Da-hei), owners' own cat, will even greet you at the front door.
Neko is a welcoming, warm orange on the inside. The walls are decorated with pictures of cats and the high-ceilinged basement floor really opens the seating area up. Besides an adorable picture of the owners, the menu here includes a bit of a mix between Chinese and Western meals. The German Pudding (德國大布丁NT$55) is baked to perfection and chilled before being served, making it a nice choice for summer. Another classy treat is the Vanilla Puff (香草泡芙, NT$35/two, NT$65/four). Or, try their Handmade Cheese Cake (手工重乳酪蛋糕NT$65) with a pot of Peppermint Green Tea (青薄荷綠茶NT$50). They also offer herbal teas (hot/iced NT$65), and various sandwich choices like Smoked Chicken with Honey Mustard & Salad (NT$75) to help kick that late-afternoon hunger.
Recently, Neko's owners have been promoting their Fancy Afternoon Tea combos. The tea set, which is available from 2 to 5 p.m., includes a choice of drink (Americano Float, Herbal Tea, or Fruit Tea) and a snack (Vanilla Puffs, German Pudding, Chocolate Chiffon, Cheese Cake, etc.), for NT$95. Both the first-floor bar and basement dining room are smoke-free zones. You can also host a group event here--just call ahead for reservations.
