After getting taken over the owners of Egmont Resort at Ching-Jing Farm, this cafe, formerly known as Discovery Cafe, has been reopened as the Egmont Cafe. All of the vegetables used in the dishes here are delivered fresh from Ching-Jing and Lishan in the mountains. Their made-to-order selections are modeled after offerings at the Egmont Resort. Their coffee choices range from Americano and Lattes, to Mochas and Float Coffees (NT$100-120). --By Niang Chen, translated by Ann Lee
A. Stream Fish (NT$22) is the chef's recommendation at Egmont Cafe. It comes with a serving of rice soup, dessert (panna cotta or chilled grass jelly), and a cold beverage after your meal. The fish, served on a bed of tender tofu, is topped with ginger slices, black beans and oyster sauce. The dish is slightly spicy with the green onion and sliced chili pepper garnish-a true Taiwanese delicacy!
B. Pumpkin Hot Pot (NT$300) is a signature dish at Egmont Cafe; the creamy broth is stewed with freshly-grown cabbage from the high mountains and the chef adds plenty of fresh milk for a unique flavor.
