This charmingly-cluttered, cozy cafe--hidden on a quiet street between FuYing Street and Taiping Road--was opened by owner Yu-ming Chiang to showcase his own brand of international award-winning Origin 36 coffee beans and handmade desserts. Drinks range from Espresso (NT$60) to flavored lattes (NT$140), plus flavored milks and various hot cocoas. A wide range of Origin 36 beans are also sold (from NT$420/1-lb. bag). While relaxing here, you'll get good company from the friendly house cat, Gao Wei ("talkative" in Taiwanese). --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Anna Yang

A. Wooden French doors and windows welcome one into the narrow, warmly-lit interior, where about 10 comfortable chairs are situated around wooden-pallet tables and a wooden bar against the wall, lined with bookshelves and all manner of knickknacks.

B. Handmade desserts (NT$100-130) vary depending on what's fresh from the oven with popular items including the tasty Fig Pound Cake (front), and Orange Sanguine Tart.

C. Yu-ming works at the back end of his tiny domain, roasting beans and making drip coffee with a unique flannel cloth filter.
