Balla Gelateria

(04) 2326-4786
4781, HuaMei St, West Dist
Hours: 12-9:30 pm

Italian-Polish owner Marta doesn't make "Italian-style gelato" but, rather, actual Italian gelato, using imported ingredients and equipment for authentic flavors and textures. Her passion and professional training have made this gelateria is a special treat with something for everyone. For Italians seeking the flavors of home, classics include Pistacchio, Amarena (cherry), Malaga (rum raisin), and Crema Della Nonna (her grandmother's recipe). Inventive options such as Apple Pie and Nachos have also made appearances, and dairy-free sorbets in flavors like Pineapple Passionfruit, Mango, and Coconut Litchi are all made with fresh local fruit (NT$90/small, NT$160/large). Custom-izable gelato sticks (pictured) in the shape of the Italian flag, watermelons and paw prints are popular with younger patrons, and non-frozen treats include Polish Honey Cake and Italian teas and coffee. Using only top-grade ingredients and showing as much attention to the atmosphere as the food, Marta ensures her welcoming, relaxing gelateria is as authentically-Italian as its gelato is. --By Karen Sims, translated by Anna Yang
