"12" follows the debate of 12 jurors who must decide whether or not to send a teenager to the electric char for stabbing his father. As the story progresses, the jurors' own backgrounds and motives for their beliefs are revealed.

Suzanne (Juliette Binoche), a drama professor who runs puppet shows, is brilliant but buried in work. As a single mom, she hires a babysitter (Song Fang) to look after her two children, Simon and Louise. As the stress of her work increases, her relationship with her neighbors seems to deteriorate and even worsens by the day.
