Among a number of local rock-music events, the largest and one that focuses the most attention on original music and the spirit of independent original bands--the 7th annual "Rock in Taichung" festival--will take place on Sept. 6 and 7 from 1 to 10 p.m. at Taichung's Wenxin Forest Park and Fulfillment Amphitheater.
The 2014 "Rock in Taichung" festival features "Everybody let's rock" as this year's theme, expressed via a series of performances and activities that everyone is welcomed to. This will include an Asian band contest, a dazzling, first-time charity run, and a "National Rock Music Competition" with top-three winners receiving prize with total value of all awards of up to NT$150,000. Other connections to the global world of rock music and culture will also be fostered on Sept. 6-7 on Fulfillment Amphitheater's main stage and Wenxin Forest Park's area 2, secondary stage for an unprecedented musical experience.
In addition to selected indie bands from all over Taiwan, organizers have also invited Japanese band Xmas Eilleen and KO-JI ZERO THREE to join this year's festival, together with great bands from South Korea, Malaysia and other nations. Numerous well-known Taiwanese indie bands performing include Frande, The Sign of Human, 1976, Kou Chou Ching, and Tonic Band, covering a wide range of rock styles from electronic, metal, punk and psychedelic to light rock and other types of original music. This year, singer-songwriters offering fresh, natural styles have also been invited, offering some cool musical breezes amid the heavy metal and various other styles at this event.
Musical performances are not the only fascinating attractions of this year's Rock in Taichung festival during these two days. In to talented original local and foreign rock groups, there will be a creative "rock market" featuring Taiwanese cultural and creative products, international cuisine, and a second-hand market, bringing fans closer together through both music and other creative ways, all expressing the spirit of rock.
Rock out in Taichung this September with the "2014 Rock in Taichung" festival and its variety of awesome activities!
