DiHua Street

The location of Taiwan's most famous "Chinese New Year Goodies Street," DiHua Street is also a huge market for groceries, Chinese medicines, and textiles. The textile stores are located in nearby YongLe Market, which carries a good selection of fabrics at reasonable prices. The Chinese medicine stores are located near ChengHuang Temple and MinSheng West Road. Groceries can be found everywhere along DiHua Street. The street is historic: narrow but full of business activities, the pictureseque buildings on both sides are filled with shops, some of which are more than 100 years old. On holidays, the street is packed with thousands of people purchasing gift packages. During Chinese New Year, the city government organizes a "goodies market" which draws thousands and thousands of people. Take a bus to the intersection of MinSheng West Road and YenPing North Road, or get off at the ChengHuang Temple stop and walk a short distance.
