Inside the Taipei Sheraton's newly-renovated Dragon Cantonese Restaurant, antique-style furniture, the glass lobby desk and a great deal of teak decor create a warm, soft color scheme. Intricate traditional Chinese-patterned carpets, walls and doors combine with more modern elements for a simple, stylish effect. With 30 years of experience, Executive Chef Chen Wei-Chiang leads an army of Hong Kong chefs and to provide authentic Cantonese-style cuisine, which includes Hong Kong-style "yam cha" seafood, Guangzhou-style roast meats, Cantonese cuisine and extravagant imperial-style banquets. Also available are the popular fresh, tasty Hong Kong dim sum treats, with steamed delicacies like fresh shrimp dumplings and various desserts. The executive chef specially recommends their "speakeasy" Cantonese-style creative cuisine, such as the dish that tests the chef's knife skills, One Cut Meat (NT$220), or the secret beauty elixir of Chinese Empress Tzi Hsi--Braised Wings with Ginseng. Or try the Sliced Li Fish Soup (NT$800), which is simmered with assorted vegetables and red dates to bring out its full flavor. The restaurant's special banquet room also has an "Imperial Night" every Wednesday and Saturday. The Mini Imperial Feast is between NT$4,000 and NT$6,000 for 10 or more diners. Call for advance reservations and traditional folk acrobatic entertainment will also be provided. --By Josie Wu, translated by Cara Steenstra
