Strolling around East District with a friend one day, I happened across a vintage Austin Mini that had been transformed into a streetside vendor selling Japanese Oden-style snacks. This creative idea, a first in Taiwan, is the brainchild of a woman in her thirties and a young man in his twenties. These two friends came up with their business plan about six months ago. The Japanese-Style Set Menu and Oden snacks available for lunch and Oden selection is NT$30 in the evenings. The soup base is slow cooked with katsuo and konbu and the ingredients are carefully selected to ensure they taste authentic and delicious. This movable eatery has a lot of potential, and can be turned into a mobile bar on hot summer nights, where patrons can enjoy a cocktail on the side of the street. The Mini food stand is also available to cater private parties and other activities. If you want to know where and when the Mini vendor is going to appear next, just give them a call and find out.
