Did you know it is possible to combine German Pork Knuckle with Gong Bao (fried, dried chilli sauce) to make a stone hot pot? For over ten years, the dream of the new owners (and good friends) Victor Chang and V V Chu was to use originality in creating their hot pots. Stone hot pots are fun because the ingredients are pre-cooked, so the wait is only for the soup to boil on one of their personalised gas stoves. The Pickled Chinese cabbage and white meat hot pot (NT$280) also uses a specialized smaller stone plate with a column in the center. It's a traditional method creating an authentic flavour which is admired by Chinese customers. For summer, try the Papaya Hot Pot (NT$220) or the Mushrooms with Herbs Hot Pot (NT$250). The name of the store, Shi Li Zhang Ting, has many meanings including "the only hot pot in a 10 kilometre radius." Combined with a great location, this spot is a very worthwhile visit.
