Kekexili (SongLong branch)

12, SongLong Rd
停業 Closed

With a new location on SongLong Road, Kekexili sells flavors from China's Qinghai Province in hot pot form. This new branch has some new dishes as well, like their Spicy Fried Shrimp, Cumin Lamb Chops, and Sauteed Tender Chicken Drumsticks (NT$280/serves 2). All the pots come with a main course, sticky rice cake, green peppers, celery, potatoes, and bamboo shoot chunks. Broth choices are spicy, non-spicy, and healthy; these brews are stewed for hours with nutmeg, baby fennel, chuanxiong and wolfberry. The only other seasoning agent is Tibet's famous "Rhodiola Rosea," which is said to lower heat in your body. --By Josie Wu, translated by Ann Lee

A. The Spicy Fried Shrimp (NT$399/serves 2, NT$799/serves 4) comes with soup, a combination of vegetables, and a choice of beef, lamb or pork. Recommended side dish choices include Japanese Noodles (NT$30), Mongolian-style Meat Buns (NT$80/6), Marinated Cabbage (NT$40), and Garlic Flavored Taro Slices (NT$40).

B. After living in Qinghai for three years, Ms.Chou, the owner, missed the local food and decided to open up her own restaurant. Her younger brother, the chef here, has over 10 years of culinary experience.
