In a world where more attention is now paid to healthy eating, Nan-Cun is a vegetarian-style restaurant that helps diners reach their goals via a European-style buffet offered for an affordable price. The very spacious restaurant fits close to 100 guests and a third-floor VIP room can host special events and parties. Although owners Mr. & Mrs. Chen have both lived overseas for many years, they decided to create their own ideal healthy food paradise right here in Taiwan. There are three time slots for enjoying meals here, starting with lunch (10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.), with a European-style buffet consisting of about 20 tasty vegetarian-style dishes. Food is priced by weight (NT$23/100g) and all a la carte dishes are NT$100. Afternoon Tea (2:30-5:30 p.m.) offers some creative choices like Vegetable & Fruits Salad (NT$99), Japanese-Style Hot Pot (NT$139), pastas (NT$149) and a self-serve salad bar (NT$169). All meals come with coffee or tea. Japanese-style hot pot choices include the Signature Nan-Cun Vegetable Pot, and Healthy Vegetarian Pot, as well as the Kimchi, and Tomato soup-based hot pot. No chemical additives are included in any of the dishes, and the female owner really recommends the pasta entrees. Dinner (5:30-10:30 p.m.) includes a sumptuous-looking Healthy Salad Bar (starts at NT$189). The restaurant is well-lit by natural sunlight during the day, making a meal here seem even more healthy for the body and spirit. --By Cecilia Chang, translated by Ann Lee
