Wayne Wang and Girogio Pappalardo is steadily growing their food & beverages empire with the opening of Piazza. They are passionate about introducing good Italian eats to Taiwan and the specialty at Piazza is pizza and spaghetti. Prior to Piazza, they have already opened two Italian restaurants and Skills cooking school.
The star product is Pizza al trancio and it's a square cut pizza originating in Rome, with soft-textured pizza crust that resembles bread. The square cut makes it a popular choice in Italy as "pizza on the go", just like the green onion pancakes sold on the streets of Taiwan in waxed paper bags. They only have a one page menu but there are plenty of food choices. Although there are only a few tables inside the restaurant, the owners paid great attention to its interior design, putting in an extra high ceiling. In addition to pizza and spaghetti, menu options include soup, salad, specialty Italian fried foods, gelato, alcoholic beverages, and they also sell pepper, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, cheeses, and various cold-cuts for you to enjoy at home.
A. All entrées are created by executive chef Giorgio Pappalardo and they are traditional Italian dishes, with ingredients that are either handmade or from established Italian brands.
B. All the pizza dough undergoes a rising time of 48 hours and is baked for 30 minutes so the pizza crust has a soft, bread-like texture. There are 12 daily flavors to choose from and individual pizza sells for NT$$95 to NT$170 or you can choose a family of 6 slices for NT$125/each (recommended size for 4 people) or 12 slices for NT$115/each (recommended size for 8 people). There are also combo packages available that includes salad, soup and drinks with the entrée.
C. Window display case shows off their highly recommended traditional Italian dishes, such as the Gnocchi alla Romana, Frittata Ham & Mushroom and Capricciosa.
D. Piazza makes all the pasta from scratch and you can enjoy a variety of fresh pasta choices like spaghetti, macaroni, lasagna, rigatoni, and linguine, and so forth. Linguine Salsiccia is made with fresh tomato sauce, sausage, and mozzarella cheese. Piazza is a great place to enjoy fresh Italian pasta in Taipei.
E. You can have peace of mind knowing all their dishes are made with fresh ingredients or simply come here for drinks or dessert and enjoy a cup of gelato or Moak coffee, highly recommended by Pappalardo.
