For those who care about hair, the arrival of TONI & GUY's first Taipei salon on DaAn Road is huge news. Founded in the UK over 40 years ago, TONI & GUY has combined a reputation for quality with the pursuit of cutting-edge modernity. They value the importance of positioning their brand in the broader context of fashion and style--which means they will no doubt leave a strong mark on the local fashion scene.
Internationally, TONI & GUY is a heavyweight with 231 salons in the UK and 171 globally. They have their own television station and award-winning magazine and have won more than 46 British Hairdressing regional and UK awards, including "Best Artistic Team" a record 11 times and British Hairdresser of the Year three times. The company currently holds the titles of both London Hairdresser of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. The reason for their dominance is simple: a strong emphasis on education, product development and training centred on their 28 academies worldwide. Stylists are broken down into six grades based on performance testing. The price of a haircut depends on the grade of the stylist. For example, a basic "Stylist" cuts your hair for NT$1,200, while a higher-end "Creative Director" haircut is NT$3,500. On the product development side, the firm partners with, and trains with, Keraste and L'oreal.
Beyond the haircuts, there is more on offer here. If you're planning on attending a party and want your hair "just right", try out their Party Hair offer (NT$800 and up). They partner with Sparitual to provide manicures (NT$600) and pedicures (NT$800). For a bit of fun beyond the standard manicure, be sure to check out their stunning hand-painted gel nails (NT$3,000).
