Although Homey's Cafe has been open less than three months, business is going well, thanks to word-of-mouth and owner Homey's good relationships with his customers. Homey has accumulated a lot restaurant operating experience over the years, but offers surprises each time he opens a new place. The total of 38 seats may not seem like much but you can choose to sit at the bar, on the balcony, on the couch, or at an indoor table. Free wireless service is also available for customers and Homey's is great for a daytime coffee or a drink or two after work. Those wanting to grab a quick bite have quite a few light-meal choices, including sandwiches, salads, bagels, and rice and noodle dishes. --Written and translated by Diva Yang, photos by Andy Lin
A. Homey's Bacon & Parma Ham Club Sandwiches (NT$130) are delightful. The combination of bacon and parma ham sandwiches with potato chips, plus a cappuccino (iced NT$120, hot NT$100) is ideal for an afternoon snack.
B. Homey's Cafe is famous for its homemade desserts. Oreo Mascarpone (NT$120) is the most popular among female customers. You can pair it with a pot of tea (herbal, Taiwanese specialty, or organic black) and enjoy a relaxing afternoon.
C. Homey renovated the second floor of this old apartment building to make it feel more spacious and ventilated. On a hot day, it's still cool inside, so that there's no need to turn on the air conditioner. Sit by the balcony, where there's a constant breeze coming through.
