         Opened on December 6 last year, but recently renamed, Lu Ding Ji specializes in all-you-can-eat venison hot pot. The restaurant is spacious and modern looking with large round tables inside and several square tables outside; the latter provide good views of the historic and recently cleaned-up Anping Canal. The choices are simple: beef, goat and pork are NT$169 per person (NT$149 in the afternoon), while venison is NT$350. The broth also has two flavors: Chinese medicine and original flavor, and you can try both in one meal by ordering a divided pot. Hot pot ingredients, fresh vegetables, fruit and drinks are included in the price. The ingredients at Lu Ding Ji are fresh and plentiful, making it difficult to sample everything in a single visit, and guaranteeing that you will waddle out the front door with a bulging stomach and a smile on your face. Kids no more than 120 centimeters in height eat for half price; those shorter than 90 centimeters eat for free. --By Richard Matheson
