Bullfight, an islandwide steakhouse chain, has opened another restaurant to add to its existing three in Tainan. With 30 years of experience in the steak business and 30 stores around Taiwan, they must be doing something right. When asked what sets them apart from other steakhouses, the answer was simple: It's the steak. They buy good meat from both the US and New Zealand, and use the meat's natural flavor rather than loading it with spices. I was told American beef is better because it is corn fed, whereas New Zealand beef cattle eat grass. Bullfight also serves pork, lamb, and chicken, as well as seafood. Prices range from NT$390 to NT$590. Bullfight is on the second floor of the Ming Jia Mei Food Court. It is large with ample seating, so even when very busy you are not likely to have to wait long. Large plate glass windows give diners a surprisingly pleasant view of the busy streets outside. --By Richard Matheson, translated by Annie Liu
