Pogo-dub

--By David May, translated by Annie Li

Located just off DongNing Road, new Pogo-dub plays dual roles. During the daytime and evening it's an eatery, but after 9 p.m. it's a relaxed lounge style pub. The intimate setting and European feel of its older building gives Pogo-dub a unique atmosphere. In restaurant mode Pogo-dub serves up moderately priced main courses such as Curry Pork Rice, Mexican Fried Rice and Cheese Pork Steak Rice (each for NT$180). They also serve hot pots priced between NT$230 and NT$280. Owner A-Wei recommends the Pesto Seafood Fried Rice (NT$250). In pub mode Pogo-dub is lounge style with house, jazz, lounge and disco being the main mix. The mix behind the bar includes scotch whiskeys (NT$2200 - NT$2500 per bottle), cocktails (NT$200) and shooters (12 for NT$400). Beers are NT$100, or all-you-can-drink on Friday and Saturday for NT$499. Making Pogo-dub stand out in the crowd of Tainan pubs is its variety of Belgian Beers. There are more than seven different choices available including honey, passion fruit, apple and cherry beers at NT$200 for a small and NT$480 for the large.

Alcoholic drinks are strictly prohibited for those under 18.
