Hua, one of South Taiwan's few stores entirely devoted
to secondhand photographic equipment, is family run
and offers excellent service. Foreigners will appreciate
the fact that the proprietor, Alex Chen, speaks good
English. He's happy to explain the various features
of the products, and also answer general photography
questions. Several years ago Mr. Chen was an aspiring
professional photographer and won several prestigious
awards for his pictures. He soon realized, like many
photographers, that he had far too much equipment,
and at that point began trading secondhand items.
He buys used equipment locally. A wide range of photographic
equipment is sold here, from reliable old manual
35mm cameras like the Nikon FM2, to sleek used digital
SLRs like Canon's 1D, plus lenses to go with them.
Medium-format systems go for such affordable prices
you may be tempted to buy just for fun. With the
exception of digital cameras, everything is guaranteed
for two months.
