Xinyu
Xuan was established during the Japanese colonial era, and the
shop's special method of making pastries has been passed down
for four generations. Even today it still uses all-natural ingredients,
and the pastries are made by hand according to tradition. This
gives customers the unique experience of enjoying traditional
pastries that taste just as they did more than 100 years ago.
Recently the owner changed the name to "Xinyu Xuan" to
mark a new start for the store, and began wrapping the same traditional
pastries in more modern and appealing packaging. Xinyu Xuan's
offerings include the same traditional tastes, some even with
two flavors of Okinawan black sugar. The most popular items however
are the hand-made pastries made of natural and healthy sesame
flour, pumpkin seed, or even almond, along with an assortment
of other hand-made pastries. Xinyu Xuan relies exclusively on
the natural taste of wheat and sugar, and uses a special process
which leaves the pastries crisp and flaky. --By Magen Lin, translated
