Nestled in the heart of NanWan is The Waves Kitchen, opened by the same team that runs Bossa Nova. The trilingual Italian menu will definitely make you do a double-take. Where else would you find pasta with "Polipo e Capperi," (NT$230) on the menu? Fresh octopus, garlic, parsley, capers and a white wine sauce make this an exceptional treat. Monthly visits by their menu designer, a real French Chef, pays off as he continues training the head chef, owner and staff to ensure the dishes are prepared up to standard.

Other delicacies include a Seafood Salad a la Basque appetizer (NT$180), which is enough to serve as a full meal. There are plenty of dishes for vegetarians and carnivores too. The Cajun Jerk Chicken Sandwich (NT$200) comes highly recommended! Waves Kitchen's specialty pasta choices include "Panna e Funghi" (mushrooms and cream), Smoked Salmon and the Pasta Pescatore (NT$280). Set meals (three courses plus coffee or tea at lunch, and the same at dinner plus dessert) are between NT$399 - NT$499 and are excellent value for the bottomless stomach.
Overlooking the picturesque NanWan beachfront, this is the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon beer from their multicultural selection, which includes Negra Modelo (a unique offering in this writer's experience). They also offer a full range of cocktails, mixed drinks and sodas, as well as Thai Milk Tea (NT$80) and Cocoa (NT$90) if you're after something more virgin.

The restaurant's rustic interior and "wave" theme makes for a comfortable, warm atmosphere, where you can easily spend the afternoon or even an entire weekend! They're currently building their fall schedule of live music performances and Saturday salsa parties once a month. Between the popular western-style hotel above the restaurant (including a third floor penthouse with rooftop lounging areas), 24-hour beach access and a bus stop right along the route to Kenting (10 minutes away), Waves Kitchen is the natural choice.
